Women in Construction
Ever considered a career in construction?
Here are the stories of some of the fantastic women we have working in construction roles here.
Why not come along to one of our FREE women-led workshops and find out what it’s like to be a plumber, electrician, joiner, plasterer, gas engineer, painter and decorator, bricklayer or to have a go at block-paving? You’ll gain new skills, meet new people and have fun!
Amanda did just that - and she now works for us! Read Amanda's Women in Construction story here.
And Tracey took up an electrician apprenticeship after taking part in a Women in Construction workshop. Read Tracey's electrician apprenticeship story here.
Childcare while you're attending a taster day/workshop can be provided for Nottingham City Council Housing Services residents, but do speak to us in advance.
Places are limited so please book your place here.
Or you can call 0115 746 9100 or email HousingEmployability@nottinghamcity.gov.uk to find out more and reserve your place.
If you are a Nottingham City Council tenant and would like us to contact you about receiving support to find work, please complete our employability registration form.
Here's what one of our former participants said...
"Women in Construction has enabled me to gain practical experience in bricklaying, plumbing, block paving and electrics. I've been able to see first-hand how to perform these skills, and find out more about training and courses that are available for me to become qualified in any chosen trade.
The programme has also given me practical on-site experience as I was able to take part in a site tour of a new build site and practice safety principles directly on site. Following the site visit, we had a remarkable talk from various women in the construction industry, including Managing Director of the Robert Woodhead Group, Teresa Westwood.
I have now completed a range of training opportunities that have been made available to me through Women in Construction, and now have a job working as a Graduate Site Engineer for one of the UK’s leading construction groups.
I couldn’t be prouder of myself. Thank you.”
