Residents at Nottingham City Council’s Palmer Court independent living community in Lenton will be warm throughout the winter, thanks to a new £250,000 heating system.

The council, along with contractors T&S Heating, have been at Palmer Court since June installing the new system, which is straightforward to use and has been designed to address the issues that were arising with the previous system.

Steve Cooper, Head of Mechanical and Electrical Services at the Council, said, “We’ve now comleted installation of the new system, and I’m looking forward to seeing our residents have a much warmer and more comfortable winter. I’d like to thank them all for their co-operation and support while the works have been taking place.”

Resident Harry Hatton (85) said, “I was the first person to get the upgrade to the radiators. They’re a big improvement, they’re so much easier to operate.” Fellow resident June Roberts (76) said, “The people who were here doing the work to put the new heating in were all brilliant. They were really polite and courteous; they’ve done an excellent job.”

Councillor Jay Hayes, Nottingham City Council’s Executive Member for Housing and Planning, said: “I’m delighted that this work has been done during the warmer months to make sure residents are ready for winter. These works demonstrate our commitment to serving people well, providing better housing, and supporting people to live well in our communities.”
