More local people on the housing waiting list have moved into new build homes at the Eastglade site in Top Valley.
The 106 new council homes - 23 one-bed flats, 63 two-bed houses and 20 three-beds - on the site of the former Eastglade School were designed by Nottingham’s Pelham Architects and are being built by Lovell Homes on behalf of Nottingham City Council. Eastglade is one of the biggest council housing projects in the city and takes the number of council homes built under the Building a Better Nottingham initiative to more than 700.
New resident Lauren, who lived in Sneinton previously and has a child aged four and another one on the way, says, “We love our new home. It’s much bigger than where we were before, and it’s light and airy. The garden is great, it’s a quiet area and there are no problems. And having a downstairs loo makes life with little children much easier!”
Councillor Jay Hayes, Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “We’re focused on building homes that are high quality, warm, energy efficient and safe, and we want to build communities places where people are proud to live. Eastglade is evidence of our ability to deliver exactly that.”
