We’re committed to supporting our tenants through the ongoing cost of living challenges. Housing Perks is a FREE app available exclusively to council tenants, designed to help you save money on everyday purchases to help you better manage your household finances.

What is Housing Perks?

Housing Perks gives you access to discounts of up to 20% at hundreds of popular retailers and supermarkets. Whether you’re doing your weekly shop, buying clothes for the family, filling up your car, or planning a day out, the app can help you reduce your everyday spending.

You can enjoy savings at major supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, ALDI and Tesco, as well as leading retailers such as Amazon, Primark, TK Maxx, Argos, B&M, B&Q and Sports Direct.

Supporting you with your rent

Housing Perks also offers a simple way to support your rent payments. You can choose to automatically put the savings you make through the app towards your rent account. This can help you:

Reduce or clear any rent arrears
Build up a credit on your account to help with any unexpected changes in your circumstances

It’s an easy way to make your everyday savings work even harder for you.

How to sign up

Getting started is quick and straightforward:

Download the Housing Perks app from your app store*
Enter your mobile phone number and verify it using a one-time code
Select ‘Nottingham City Council’
Enter your rent payment reference number (sent in a covering letter with the Summer 2026 tenant and leaseholder newsletter)
Start saving!

Is the app free to use?
Yes! Just download it from your app store for free and there’s no fee for usage

How do I get vouchers?
Once you’ve registered, you can then use your payment card or digital wallet to get a discounted voucher from your retailer of choice and start saving! It takes no more than a few seconds to do - the voucher appears instantly on your phone when you get it through the app, you can even buy it when you’re at the till, it’s so quick!

If I have a £20 voucher and I only spend £18 – do I lose the £2 difference?
No. When you get a voucher, you can use it as many times as you like until the balance is at zero

I don’t have a smart device – can I still use the vouchers?
Yes. Vouchers can be printed off or shared to another device

How long does a voucher last?
It’s usually valid for around two years – but check the expiry date on the voucher as it can vary from between three months and five years

How do I turn on the rent contributions feature?
When you sign up, you’ll be able to toggle a button to choose to pay savings into your rent account rather than your shopping.

When are rent contributions paid into my rent account?
These are paid from Housing Perks to us monthly. It can then take up to two weeks for the payment to appear on your rent account.

Can I use this if I’m arrears?
Yes! It’s a really helpful way to pay off arrears. Every time you shop, a small amount can go towards reducing your balance. And if other family members are using the app with your rent payment reference number that will help to reduce your arrears even faster!

What happens if I move to a different Nottingham City Council council house?
You will be given a new rent payment reference number for your home. You'll need to create a new Housing Perks account with your new number as your old number will no longer be valid.

How do Housing Perks use my data?
You can read Housing Perks' Privacy Policy on their website that provides information on how they use information and keep it safe.
