Your Access Team - keeping you safe

Sometimes we need to visit your home to carry out important safety checks, repairs or other essential work.

As your landlord, we have legal responsibilities to make sure certain safety checks are completed. These checks help keep you, your family, your neighbours and our colleagues safe.

Some safety checks are required by law and must be completed at certain times. We need your help to make sure we can carry them out.

And visits to your home aren't just about completing safety checks. They’re also about seeing if you or someone in your household could benefit from additional help or support. This could include:

  • Safeguarding concerns
  • Hoarding, or difficulties managing your home
  • Problems keeping your home warm
  • Outstanding repairs

Letting us in can be an important first step in making sure you get the right help.

Don’t want to let us in?

We understand that there can be lots of reasons why you may find it difficult to let us into your home. If you're worried, have particular needs, or there's something making it difficult to let us in, please talk to us. Our access team is made up of friendly, supportive, non-judgemental people who are here to help – and there’s not much that they haven’t seen before!

We want to work with you to find a way forward.

If you don’t let us in

We’ll always try to work with you – we’ll contact you in different ways, understand any barriers you're experiencing, offer support, and consider reasonable adjustments where appropriate.

Most people work with us to provide access and allow essential checks to be completed.

However, if you really won’t let us in, even after our many attempts to engage and support you, we may need to take further action – because we have to carry out these checks by law.

Enforcement is a last resort, and any decision to take further action is made through the appropriate process and is subject to review through our Access Decision Panel. This helps make sure decisions are fair, proportionate and based on the circumstances of each case.

Need help?

We're here to help.
